Lesson 11: More Counting! Up to hundred!

Hey guys!

This is part 2 of the counting session. Today we're going to learn how to count to 100! No I'm not kidding.

First, I hope you all remember the numbers 1-10? Let's take the short list again.

1 = En
2 = To
3 = Tre
4 = Fire
5 = Fem (Pronounced "Femm", no particular reason)
6 = Seks
7 = Syv/Sju (Let's stick to Syv)
8 = Åtte
9 = Ni
10 = Ti

Moving on, which not much to say, here is the chart for 11-20:

11 = Elleve
12 = Tolv
13 = Tretten
14 = Fjorten
15 = Femten
16 = Seksten
17 = Sytten
18 = Atten
19 = Nitten
20 = Tjue

Ok, for some of the numbers they have a different pronouncition. Tolv is pronounced "Tåll". All the numbers that ends with "-ten" is pronounced "-tenn". Elleve is pronounced "Ellve". Femten is pronounced "Femmten(n)". Seksten is pronounced "Sejsten(n)" or "Seijsten(n).

So now, to go any higher it's pretty simple. If you want to say 25, for example, you take 20 + 5. So it's Tjuefem. Easy?

21 = Tjueen (Tjue-en, do not mistake it for a long vowel)
22 = Tjueto (Tjue-to)
23 = Tjuetre (Tjue-tre)
24 = Tjuefire
25 = Tjuefem
26 = Tjueseks
27 = Tjuesyv
28 = Tjueåtte
29 = Tjueni

So before you can count higher, you need the first number in the court. Like 20,30,40,50,60 and so on. Here they are:

10 = Ti
20 = Tjue
30 = Tretti
40 = Førti
50 = Femti (Still "femmti")
60 = Seksti
70 = Sytti
80 = Åtti
90 = Nitti
100 = Hundre!

So now it's basicly, 65 = Sekstifem, 83 = Åttitre, 37 = Trettisyv. There you got it! For any more help you should check out this video by QueenOfNorway: TALLENE!
